Tokyo Beats Paris As the World's Best Place to Eat

It is now official; Tokyo has more Michelin three star restaurants than Paris. Tokyo is one of the biggest cities in the world and now has beaten Paris as the world's top destination to eat. This is no surprise as Tokyo is famous for its food like sushi and ramen. According to the 2009 Michelin Guide, Tokyo has eleven three star restaurants which is close to Paris, ten restaurants. The other food capital of the world, New York, it has only four three star restaurants.

Here are three reasons why Tokyo is the world's best place to eat:

1. Tokyo has a population of approximately 12 million people. Due to its large population, there are more restaurants to serve people than most other cities. In addition, it has a large group of wealthy people that can afford to dine out. It is estimated that Tokyo has 160,000 overall restaurants compared to Paris with 40,000.

2. Tokyo has a large ethnic population that serves many different types of food like, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Indian and others. This mixture of ethnic group allows restaurants to be creative and innovative with their food. When you go out and eat, you can expect to see a whole diverse of food that you can buy.

3. The Japanese has a long history and tradition with food. Japanese food is mainly about presentation and refinement. In some restaurants, to become a sushi master requires years of practice and mentoring. Furthermore, Japanese focus more on the quality of food. It is estimated that the Japanese are the highest consumers of the best and freshest fishes in the world.
